About Hobby's Cottage
Hobby’s Cottage is a small, 3 bedroomed detached cottage set in the small New Forest village of Minstead, offering residential placements for three males with learning disabilities and associated complex needs.
The home offers individual bedrooms, a large lounge/dining area, large kitchen and a large garden area with barbeque and pond areas.
Minstead is a small, rural community with a small shop and post office in the centre. A wider range of shops and facilities can be found in the nearby town of Lyndhurst and the bustling port of Southampton is only a 15 minute drive away. The home has its own ‘people carrier’ vehicle which is used to transport service users to their chosen activities.
Philosophy
We offer a service tailored to the complex needs of the individual enabling the resident to integrate safely within the local community therefore achieving full citizenship. A supportive and safe environment encourages development of the individual promoting self determination and empowering the individual to take responsibility for their lives/ behaviours.
We support the resident to meet individual goals and aspirations with dignity upholding the rights of the individual. All service users are encouraged to take a active part in the running of the home, formulation of their specific care plans, risk assessments.
Residents are supported to achieve greater levels of independence with staff working closely with the resident to encourage them to develop and practice key skills, Residents access local services for their educational / recreational needs.
