Appleton registered for 7 is a home offering 7 single, self contained flatlets for adults with mental disorder and associated complex needs and is situated in Bitterne just 1mile away from Southampton City Centre.
Each”Flatlet” offers individual rooms with en suite facilities and a kitchenette to encourage greater independence and self-determination. There is also a large lounge/ dining area, a utility area and a training kitchen in the main house to encourage cooking and budgeting skills and greater independence.
The location of the home makes access to public transport and Southampton town centre- recreational, leisure and college facilities very easy. The home has its own vehicle to take service users if they wish to their chosen activities whether recreational and educational.
Philosophy
We offer a service tailored to the complex needs of the individual enabling the service users to integrate safely within the local community therefore achieving full citizenship. A supportive and safe environment encourages development of the individual promoting self determination and empowering the individual to take responsibility for their lives and their behaviours.
We support the service user to meet individual goals and aspirations with dignity upholding the rights of the individual. All service users are encouraged to take an active part in the running of the home, formulation of their specific care plans, risk assessments.
Service users are encouraged in the promotion and achievement of independence with specific tailored plans to enable them to develop and practice key skills; and are supported by staff at each stage of this process but are empowered to make decisions for themselves.
We offer when needed support and advice from our in house Psychology and Psychiatry Teams.
